PASTA MIA

Michael’s fond childhood memories of the smell of homemade pasta came to life during this shoot. It was a wonderful way to spend the day returning to his roots, making great pictures of handmade fettuccine and ravioli along with some gorgeous vine-ripened tomatoes.  While Jen is not working on setting up lights and whizzing through file management for our clients, she is a gourmet cook at home. Enjoy our behind-the-scenes photos of her making the pasta… and then feast on the final images!

Ravioli stuffed with ricotta.

These tomatoes would make a wonderful primavera sauce.

Fettuccine the way it should be: Fresh!

The Italian word for tomato is pomodoro… Translation: “golden apple.”

SPREAD THE LOVE

The smell of cookies and chocolate have been permeating our studio this week… lucky for us, all the baking was done just in time for Valentine’s Day!  So sit back, relax, and indulge yourself with some of our favorite pieces of eye candy. (calorie-free, of course!)

Food stylist, Monica Mariano from Ennis, fills heart-shaped sugar cookies with jammy goodness.

It took all of our willpower combined not to dive into these delectable confections before shooting… but, we got the shots!  Enjoy.

That was Easy!

Not long ago we were contacted by the great people at Staples to see if we could create 6 different environments in the comfort of the studio. Of course we said yes and it turned out to be much easier than we thought. We had two moveable walls constructed and some great styling by Sara Mills-Broffman. The sets looked so good, we almost moved in!

Zen and the Art of Styling

Recently, we had a chance to work with talented stylist and good friend  Kim Teich of TEAM. It was really fun to play with some very chic clothing that looked gorgeous when combined with some beautiful lighting and arranging.

Kim quickly and effortlessly found the right look and angle for this fabulous blouse.

The attention to detail is what makes Michael and Kim a great team!

Brunch in the Studio – Belgian Waffles with Bananas Foster

Since it has been so cold lately, we thought it would be a nice time to shoot some warm Belgian waffles, fresh from the iron. The wonderful smell filled the studio and if it was not for stylist Monica Mariano from Ennis Inc. fighting us back, the waffles would have been eaten instead of making fantastic images!

The ingredients are simple, but very tasty when whisked with skill and carefully cooked.

The Bananas Foster was a very lovely touch to our waffles. Stop by the studio anytime and we will cook up a batch!

Monica slowly builds the tower of waffles.

Sometimes stylists need a little help to keep tall stacks of waffles from falling over… shhh we won’t tell!

Covidien Shoot

It would be great if it was true, but sadly it was not Dr. House or Dr. Oz, who came to the studio for a photo shoot. We were approached to create an image of a surgeon holding a medical device. Everything went accordingly and it was a smooth and routine operation…er, shoot!

Shawn from Image Makers Models precisely holds the device. It was not as easy as it looked!

We always make sure there are plenty of options for props and wardrobe on every shoot.

Going Green

For a few months now, the studio has been taking the initiative to go green. We have been using a great company, Casella Waste Systems to handle our recycling. The great thing is that we don’t have to sort the recyclables. We put all of our cardboard, paper,  plastics, glass, and metal into one container and they separate them using a huge machine. Even though it is a cost to the studio, it is definitely worth helping the environment.

The studio used to drink case upon case of bottled water.  After realizing how detrimental plastic bottles are to the environment we decided to switch to a water fountain thanks to Stonybrook Water which has a multiple filter system.

It’s always Sunny in Boston

Now that the weather has turned cold, we thought it would be nice to share a warm ice cream shoot we just shot. Food stylist Sunny Ricks helped us with some fantastic work making the ice cream look great. Now that we are past the darkest day of the year, lets hope for a short winter so we can eat cold ice cream again!

The finished results

Happy Holidays!

We wanted to do something extra special this year for our studio holiday card, so we asked some close friends to help. Tim Neeedham came up with the clever idea of a photoshoot with Frosty in a remote mountain location. Since the weather was not cooperating with providing us snow, prop stylist extraordinaire, Sara Mills-Broffman  helped us creatively make our model. Once we had the different elements shot, we had retoucher, Alan Woolwine put the final scene together.

Have a wonderful holiday wherever you may be!

Always a cheerful model, no matter how long on set.

This Frosty would never melt in a greenhouse! Take notice Hinkle!
